ZMAX Electronic Cigarette is a Variable Voltage and Variable Wattage Device. This is a variable volt PV made by Smok Tech that takes vaping to the next level. This is really a variable power mod because you have the option of adjusting either your voltage or your power (watts). The Zmax adjusts from 3.0 to 6.0 Volts in .1 volt increments or 3.0 to 15 Watts in .5 Watt increments. The ZMax has a chrome polished finish and a maximum output of 4 Amps

1. Uu- Voltage up
2. Ud- Voltage down
3. So- Standby / on/off
4. Uc- Battery voltage check
5. Ds- Display change / Resistance Ω/Voltage output/Voltage under load 'live'
6. Lo- LED on/off
7. Up- Voltage power (Wattage setting)
Po- Constant power operation
Uo- Constant voltage operation

The ZMax can read your output voltage, battery voltage and cartomizer / atomizer resistance.

In addition, the ZMax has a native eGo style connector that allows you to use both 510 and eGo style cartomizers, atomizers and tanks without adapters. The eGo style connector does not have outside threads but typical eGo style parts fit flush down into the recess that is around the ZMax connector. 510 Tanks and other similar 510 items will screw in and be almost flush with the top.

The ZMax will accept Flat Top or Button Top IMR 18650 batteries with the standard end cap.

Never use non-rechargeable batteries in any device. Only use the recommended batteries for this device.
All adjustments and settings are made with the push button switch. This includes a setting to turn your ZMax off for safe travel in your pocket, bag or purse.

The ZMax includes an instruction manual in English.
There is a 90 day warranty for device failures under normal use.

NOTE:These IMR cells have much lower internal resistance than regular LiIon 3.7V cells and they may end up with a higher ending voltage when charged in certain chargers ( especially older versions of the WF-139 charger ). Please check the voltage of your 18650 IMR battery right out of the charger to see if they are above 4.20V when fully charged with your charger. You can do this with a Multimeter Overcharging above 4.25V may shorten life/cycles. Above 4.50V may even damage them. DO NOT use the charger if it is overcharging IMR cells.

Special Note: Since this is a Mod the over-fastening of atomizers, cartomizers, tanks, etc may cause damage to the center post of the device. This could cause damage to the device and may cause a short. This will cause the battery to discharge and may potentially cause the battery to vent. The device does have Vent Holes in case this happens. We do recommend properly storing the batteries when the device is not in use.

Mod Caution Notes:
- Never store a mod in your pocket, purse or anywhere else that may allow the Mod to activate.
- This mod does have built in protection but if mishandled, or damaged could cause the circuit to fail.
- Never submerge the device or battery under water, or expose to excess moisture.
- Avoid over tightening atomizers, cartomizers, RBA's, and Tanks on to the threading of the device. Finger tip tight is good enough and does not need to be cranked down all the way until it doesn't move.
- Over tightening of the battery cap or head of the unit may cause the unit to continuously fire unintentionally and could damage the battery or internal components.
- Use caution when storing Mods, we do recommend removing the battery and storing the battery in a Battery Case
- When using RBA's on these devices, make sure that your RBA is properly built without shorts and that the battery you are using is able to handle the resistance. We do not recommend using atomizers on this device below 1.5ohms.
- When using Rebuildable Atomizers (RBA) make sure that you use a OHM tester to verify that there isn't a short before using.

Other Battery Caution Notes:
- Do not over-discharge/overcharge
- Recharge empty batteries (resting voltage ~3.6V) as soon as possible. Leaving batteries in discharged state will incur irreversible damage (capacity / cycle loss)
- Do not short circuit ( will release tremendous current )
- Do not dispose of in fire.
- Do not leave battery in Vehicles.
- Do not carry batteries loose in your pocket, purse or anywhere they can make contact with other metal objects.
- Never leave a battery charging unattended.
- Discontinue use of a battery if it looks worn, outter wrapping is torn, or it's acting unusual.

NOTE: Use special caution when working with Li-ion or Li-MN cells, they are very sensitive to charging characteristics and may explode or burn if mishandled. Make sure the user has enough knowledge of Li-Ion rechargeable batteries in charging, discharging and assembly before use. Always charge in/on a fire-proof surface. Never leave charging batteries unattended. We are not responsible for damage if there is any modification of the batteries/chargers in any form or shape (including pack making). We are not responsible for any damage caused by misuse or mishandling of batteries and chargers. We only recommend using Lithium Ion rechargeable batteries with a control circuit (protection PCB) to assure safe charge, discharge, etc, use of lithium ion batteries without a protection circuit is potentially hazardous

AltSmoke LLC. will not be held responsible or liable for any injury, damage, or defect, permanent or temporary that may be caused by the improper use of an Li-MN or LI-ION battery. Please have a basic understanding of the batteries you are using and how to care for them properly.

gives a great vape! Review by Matt
I am loving my ZMAX! It is definitely the geek's mod! It has a good smooth vape and has just about any option i can think of. I do wish that when you took the battery out it kept all of its settings. The other thing is the display although clear and bright could have been upgraded. The display reminds me of a speak and spell, but once you get used to it it's ok. My only other gripe is with the "black chrome" color. it is evidently just painted on over a chrome ZMAX and has started rubbing off after just a couple weeks. I doubt that this would happen on the regular chrome one.

On the bright side it has many options and the ability to chose vw or v v is very nice. the ability to turn the unit off and turn the display off is a definite plus. The ZMAX has all the power in the world and it will blow up atty's if you don't know what your doing. To me this isn't a problem its a positive, I like to get all I can out of my high volt mods! This mod quickly became the only thing i use after i get home! (Posted on 8/18/13)
Decent Review by Rick
This isn't a bad little unit but it's got some issues. I'm a really heavy vaper, I vape dual coil carts at 10 watts all day long. I've been using this for about 4.5 months, I don't like doing reviews until I really get to know the product. I switched from the ProVari which I used for about a year. So that's what I'm comparing it to, bearing in mind that the ProVari is twice the price.

Using the same parts, the hits between the two units are a bit different. The Z feels a bit harsher, but I quickly got used to it and it wasn't much of an issue.

Battery life on the Z is a bit longer which surprised me because of issue #1 with the Z which is that it doesn't turn off when you let go of the button. It stays engaged for a couple few seconds longer than it should which is a bit annoying and causes the cart to heat up if you are hitting it a lot which I do quite often.

My second issue is that button batteries, (18650) only some of them, don't quite fit which causes the plexiglass cover on the LED display to push out near the top of the unit. It still works, but it's not a great fit. If you use shorter batteries, it works fine but I like the AW IMR ones and they were causing me trouble. This little quirk caused the next issue.

My plexiglass cover is broken. I'm pretty hard on my units and drop them occasionally. Since the cover was pushed out, it broke. Additionally the top comes loose when it gets dropped. So I didn't find it as well made and durable as the ProVari and nowhere near the quality of the silver bullet.

Finally, over time the button doesn't work as well as it should. I have to press it 10-15 times or more just to get into the menu most of the time and often I find that as I'm vaping, it has gotten into the menu somehow and modified my power settings which I then have to reset. So it's definitely inconsistent on the button presses. It's not a huge problem and perhaps a good alcohol bath would fix this but it bears mentioning if only because of how often I have to deal with it.

Overall, I would say it's worth the cost and don't regret the purchase. If you aren't a heavy vapor and/or are more careful with your units, you will probably love this mod. If you want something durable, I'd suggest a silver bullet with a drop-in, or wait until altsmoke comes out with their VV model and see how that one is. That's what I'm going to do. I like it Review by Don
I have been using this for a few weeks and have had some pretty good results, my only complaint about it is that it is very sensitive to ohm loads, I had been using 1.5o atomizers previously and when I put a brand new one on it, it measured at 1.2ohms and wouldnt fire the device, so if you use LR attys just be concious of this. other than that its been great. Im using IMR 2000mah batteries with it and getting a day and a half of use at 7-8 watts or 3.5-4 volts... Ive played around with all of the diffrent settings on the device and their all pretty simple to get used to. After getting it set to my liking, I havent changed it really..other than to up the wattage just to see the diffrence in settings. all in all, its a good device at a much better price than other Variable devices out there. Still keeping my SB in reserve though, too scared of the electronics crapping out on me... Id definatly recomend it though to anyone looking for a VV/VW device. (Posted on 12/4/12)
Works great!! Review by Cin
Zmax is the great VV I have owned, been vaping for more than 5hours on my IMR 18650 and a mini vivi nova tank. Been using 3.7 Volts and been using 8.5 to 9.0 Watts and sometimes 4.7Volts using Strawberry Banana Low "Custom Mixed" juice. Tastes good! Thumbs up ZMAX! (Posted on 12/3/12)
First Mod Battery Review by Gordon
I got this mod because of the variable power option. I have been using it for about 1-1/2 months and have had no problems. For those that don't know, when set to VP the unit detects the resistance of the atomizer you have connected and adjusts the output voltage accordingly. I usually run it between 4 to 7 watts, although others as can be seen by the other comments run it much higher. You may read other reviews (around the internet) that run it down because the voltage display reads different than the actual output (displays average output voltage vice RMS). As far as I am concerned what does it matter? As long as you run it in power mode and find a comfortable range to use it in, why dither about the accuracy of the voltage reading?

There are a couple of issues: 1) The menu system is a bit confusing - trying to determine what setting you're changing. With a little time and use you'll get the hang of it, and other than power/voltage up/down, you probably won't change the settings that much anyway. 2) When you remove the battery, it loses the last voltage you had it set at (resets to 3V), however, if you are in power ode, it remembers your power setting. Even if you switch to VV mode and back to VP mode, the last setting is used.

Using an AW IMR 2000 mAH battery and a Vivi Nova tank I can vape on this all day. (Posted on 11/10/12)
waste of money Review by amanda
ordered the zmax worked great at first didnt even have it a week and totally crapped out. wont light up or turn on, completely dead. buyer beware no quality control. doubt it has much circuit protection. (Posted on 11/2/12)
First impression Review by John
Real good so far! Only been a few hours but I think I am going to lower the mgs of my liquid. Vaping freely is very smooth and very easy to "over do it" ! I'll have an updated review after I put it through its paces.By the way , for comparisonns sake; I vape 48 mg Camel liquid at 6 volts on my LavaTube, and about 7.2 on my dual 18650 BoxMod. So far I'm doing ZMAX at 7-12 watts and like I said so far , so good! (Posted on 10/30/12)

Best VV I have owned Review by Robert
I have owned two Lavatubes, a VV Gripper and some eGo twist batteries and this is the best. I set it at 7 watts and no matter what Ohm carto or tank I put on it, it gives the exact same performance. It really does except all of my eGo parts with out any issues, unlike the lavatube that was supposed to. I love it and it performs so well. I have only been using it for 5 hours, but have changed tanks out several times, just to see how it performs and i love it. It works with all my vivi nova tanks as well. (Posted on 10/17/12)
